The decision of the Congress legislature Party (CLP) to handover the Balli case to the CBI as the local police will not be able to conduct a fair investigation casts an aspersion on the credibility of the entire Goa Police. Handing over any case to the CBI is the prerogative of the Government but the reason given in the Balli case is uncalled for. If the CLP itself doubts the capability of the competence of the Goa police to conduct a fair probe we would be seeing demands for all sorts of cases to be handed over to the CBI.
We have some very competent and efficient officers in the Goa police. There are also some officers who prefer to act as “ constables” of Ministers and MLAs. It is the political interference in the day to day working of the Goa police that has corroded its functioning.
The Police should be given a free hand to investigate every case but the Ministers and MLA’s virtually control every decision taken at the police stations in their constituency. Infact the police are bound and gagged. It is a shame that officers over the years have been manipulated and tamed by the powers to be and just have to dance to the tunes of those in power.
The frequent transfer and victimization of reputed police officers at the instance of politicians has to stop. It affects the morale and credibility of the entire police force. It has to be ensured that police get their independence and are not controlled or manipulated by politicians. This is what has been envisaged and directed by the Supreme Court of India.

This article is very though provoking. Yes it is duty of the police in Goa to be free from political interference in the day to day affairs and running of the police post in their area. But sadly these policemen in uniform has fallen prey to the money power. It is, we Goans that have to set them right and embark them on theirr duty. There are instances in Candolim where the police are controlled by the MLA and they (Police) dance to the tuned of the MLA. many a times the police turn a blind eye to go in surprise check to the given area and they come later when the crime is washed away with the help of the local goondas with the blessing of the political power. Hope we see the light of very Goan aspiring to get what we true Goans are.

Unfortunately, the Legislators turn the Police into mere Constables to do their bidding and do not give the Police a free hand to conduct a free and fair investigation.
TODAY EACH AND EVERY CASE, HOWEVER SMALL IT MAY BE IS RESOLVED AT SOME MINISTERS. THE MOMENT A COMPLAINT IS LODGED THE OPPOSITE PART CALLS FOR SOME MINSTERS HELP. BEFORE THE COMPLAINANT COULD EVEN LEAVE THE POLICE STATION THE CONCERNED PSI RECIEVES A PHONE CALL FROM SOME HONOURABLE MINISTER OR MLA.
NOW, WHEN I SAY EVERY CASE, I MEAN EVERY SINGLE CASE.
ALL THE GHANTIS HAVE MORE ACCESS TO THE MINISTERS.

Why can’t you be person of practical instead on only writing? During agitation by parents regarding MOI, you were no where in the picture. Only after govt. decision to grant English medium, you supported people who are favoring Konkani and Marathi and opposing to English Medium. Why this only because you are getting money from BJP? Did you learned in Konkani or Marathi Medium? All the paper work in court they do in Konkani and Marathi or in English? Why are you not questioning Judicial to do all the paper work in Konkani or Marathi? What you have done to bring out any dictionary in Konkani. Is Goan available to teach in Marathi or you having any intention to get Marathi teachers from Maharashtra? Send your children or grand children in village Marathi school and see the result.
When there was demand from all corners to hand over the drug-police nexus and other similar cases to the CBI, our Goracho Montri said his Gua Pulis were very competent to handle the case and there was no need to hand it over to the CBI. What happened to his competent police now? Why hand it over to the CBI at the first instance????

I participated one rally, but after seeing Many politician for the rally i ddidnot pariticipated any more.........as same peopel were resposbile to to discontinue grant to english and now due to political reason they are suporting Englsih Medium.
