NRP SAGRES TO REACH GOA ON 12TH NOVEMBER AMID PROTESTS BY FREEDOM FIGHTERS

PANJIM: Portuguese navy's decorated ship, NRP Sagres will sail to Goa shores on November 12, amidst objections by freedom fighters against any celebration for completion of 500 years of Vasco-da-Gama's arrival in Goa. "The tallest ship of the Portuguese Navy, NRP Sagres is visiting Goa as a part of its 2010 circumnavigation of the world," Portugal Consul General Dr Antonio Sabido Costa said.
The visit is to mark "the arrival of the Portuguese to the Orient and Extreme Orient, 500 years ago", he said here.
The ship and its crew will be received in Mormugao port by Rear Admiral Sudhir Pillai, flag officer commander of Goa. It will be docked there from November 12 to November 16.
Portuguese explorer Vasco-da-Gama was the first person to have touched the land for trade. Later the Portuguese had captured this part of India and made it as their colony, which was liberated on December 19, 1961 by the Indian Army.
Meanwhile, an organisation of freedom fighters, who were jailed to liberate Goa from Portugal rule, has strongly objected to such celebrations.
"We will protest. Let the state government put us behind bars and celebrate the occasion," said Naguesh Karmali, President, All Goa Freedom Fighters association.
Karmali, who was imprisoned during liberation struggle, said the Portuguese rule was marked with oppression, harassment and torture so "How can anyone celebrate the arrival of oppressors?"
Freedom fighters have also demanded that names of Portuguese nationals given to various roads should be scrapped before December 19, 2010. Karmali said the roads were named after Portuguese leaders, who had unleashed terror on Goans.
The association has also taken strong objection to Panjim City Corporation’s move to name a renovated garden as 'Garcia de Orte'. – PTI

Let Karmali and his gang of crooks who call themselves go to hell. The ship has to arrive means it has to arrive and there is no reason why there should not be celebrations. Karmali and his goons can sit in the bars and drink local feni and bang their heads on the rocks and die. We would say good riddance of dirty garbage.

Freedom fighters? My foot Karmali and the so called freedom fighters are nothing but rogues. When Karmali and his likes die I will celebrate the day with great fiesta and a throw a trememdous party to my Goan friends in Dubai. @Shyam you are one hell of a real Goan Hindu who can talk the real truth.

No doubt the Ex-Freedom fighter and pensioned off madman Karmali will have and axe to grind.
Portugal left Goa approx 50 years ago.
Though they still have a right to Goa as per the United NAtions...the have given it to the Indian Government.
When the rest of the world is trying to build bridges and harmony between Nations, out pops out Karmail who is possibly suffering from dementia and dotage with his outdated views of the New world.
So if anyone sees this guy...just give him some boiled sweets and send him away.

Shyam & Raul...this idiot of the old world Karmail, must be thinking the Portuguese are coming back to re-conquer Goa.
Mr SICK WISE GUY Karmail...should know that the Portuguese will not be interested in a corrupt state as Goa is today.

Karmali is enjoying at the cost of the Portuguese by sitting at home and devising evil plans. He was evil during the Portuguese rule and will always remain evil in his life. Karmali I suggest you go to Chimpel in the slum area where all the migrant ghanttis that you brought into Goa and sleep there. You will get all the luxuries like women to enjoy from the crowd you brought into our Goa and threw us Goans out of Goa, you foolish fellow!

When the Portuguese captured Goa from Adil Shah, they were in fact invited by the Hindus of Goa who were suppressed by Adil Shah and had no freedom of religion. Most old Hindus will agree the Portuguese defeated Adil Shah and allowed the Hindus to live in peace side by side with the Christians. The Hindus were allowed to practice their own religion and never harassed for that. All this happened 450 years before INDIA existed in itself. If the madman Karmali is talking about the Salazar regime, then he should study the real history and not a fabricated one, that the Portuguese citizens in Portugal suffered more than the Goans under Salazar. Karmali is a mad dreamer who is senseless and useless empty vessel.

This Kamali is a mad man and should be put to sleep like a Mad Dog together with his comrades. These so called freedom fighters allowed the invasion of Goa by Indian Army. What are Goans liberated from? Why are these rogues not voicing them selves against the corrupt politicians for their wrong doing? The liberation was to create Ghanti Nagars in Goa. Goa is need of a political revoulation.

Tell this "na GU este" Karmali to stop using pants, shirts, shoes, etc. first, they were brought to India by Portuguese or British.
Tell him to stop speaking English and stop his family from going to English schools or obtaining English Degrees.
Tell him to stop living in houses constructed of cement etc. as it is all foreign technology.
Tell him to stop eating the several fruits that are growing in Goa brought by the Portuguese.
And lastly, tell him to stop using motorised vehicles for his transport. He can use a donkey or a buffalo; motorised vehicles were brought to India by the British, and then to Goa by the Portuguese.
If this "NA-GU-ESTE" has really aversion to all that was brought to Goa by the Portuguese, he should lead by example and follow the above.
If he cannot do it, then he is not only "Na Gu.." by can also eat it like a PIG.

To Anonymous the VIII said:Well said. I fully agree.
He should stop eating chilllies, Mangoes etc.
He should be wearing Goas traditional trouser...called "Khasti".
Why bother with plates, cups and saucers...he can use bannaa leaves, coconut shells (COTIS).
For transport he should go back to Bullock Carts. To write his rubbish...he should use feather pens. For a toilet...2 stones over a hole will do in his backyard.
Forget tiled flooring...cow dung is quite useful still.
These are all imports of Colonial Rule, which this old fool should avoid.
I am sure more items will be added to my list
