ANJUNA KIDNAPPING CASE CHARGE SHEET FILED

MAPUSA: After thorough investigation and collection of evidence, the Anjuna PI, Mr Manjunath Dessai, on Friday, before the JMFC, Mapusa, filed the charge sheet in the kidnapping case, involving Mr Starling D’Souza, that occurred on July 3.
It is mandatory that a charge sheet should be filed within three months from the date of the occurrence of the crime. In all 95 witnesses are to be examined in this case, which has seven accused, Ajay Thapa 24, Rajeshkumar 23 , Resham Thapa Magor 19, Raju Thapa Magor 32, Talin Nyoma 30, Arjun Sharma 26 and Ramesh Thapa 19. Police have recovered pistols, dagger, knives , six cars and motorcycles from the accused in the course of the investigation. PI Mr Manjunath Dessai conducted the investigation, under the supervision of DySP, Mr Sammy Tavares.
The charge sheet has been filed under section 364-A of IPC, which means death sentence or life imprisonment, 120-B and section 3 read with 25 of Arms Act 1954. PI, Mr Dessai for the last three months has visited Canacona several times to collected as much evidence as possible.
It may be recalled that on July 3, the seven accused were involved in kidnapping Starling D’Souza, son of Mr Steve D’Souza of Vagator. The kidnappers were armed with weapons that they had bought from Gaziabad. They demanded a ransom of ` 2 crore, for the release of Starling.
However, when the kidnappers were hiding in the hills at Canacona, with Starling, a strong police force consisting of DySP, Mr Sammy Tavares, DySP, Mr Serafino Dias, North SP, Mr Arvind Gawas, South SP, Mr Allen D’Sa, Pernem PI, Mr Uttam Raut Dessai, Canacona PI, Mr Raju Raut Dessai and Maina-Cutorim PI, Mr Siddhant Shirodkar, along with a police force of 200 personnel, under the supervision of DIG, Mr Yadav, succeeded in freeing Starling at 11 p.m. on July 4.  All the seven accused are presently in custody.
