MICKKY PACHECO CHALLENGES HIS CONVICTION

MARGAO: Benaulim MLA and former tourism minister Francisco 'Mickky' Pacheco approached the district and sessions court at Margao challenging the order passed by a judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) court, sentencing him to undergo imprisonment for one year.
Pacheco, who was present with his lawyer Srikant Naik, filed a criminal revision application before the sessions court on Wednesday. While stating that the evidence on record does not make any case for holding him guilty, the applicant has said that there is no proof that the engineer was discharging his duty as a public servant. The applicant has also mentioned that there is also no evidence that he used physical force to deter the engineer from discharging his duties.
On April 27, the JMFC court at Margao had convicted Pacheco and directed him to undergo simple imprisonment for one year. The court also imposed a fine of 5,000. Pacheco was charged for assaulting the engineer in 2006 after calling him to his Betalbatim office.

Send this guy straight to jail. The common man would have been in jail yesterday.....what makes him so special? But of course, I forget, this is dirty India for you! Only the poor man goes to jail.
