PANJIM: Goa’s newly appointed Director General of Police Dr. Aditya Arya today assured Adv. Aires Rodrigues of prompt action in the former IGP Mr. K.D.Singh son’s accident case. Adv. Rodrigues today met DGP Dr. Arya and submitted a memorandum demanding his intervention and action in the matter.
On 4th December 2009, the son of Goa’s former IGP Mr. K.D.Singh while unauthorisedly driving his father’s official Toyota Innova GA-07-G-0063 crashed it at Chicalim.
Siddharth Singh, the IGP’s son was driving his father’s official vehicle along with his friends to a night club at Vasco when he crashed the vehicle while also damaging two electricity poles. The repair of the former IGP’s official vehicle has cost the State exchequer a whopping Rs 4, 33, 200.
The Chief Secretary of Goa Mr. Sanjay Srivastava on 14th December last year had categorically stated that the expenses incurred on the repairs of that police vehicle would be recovered from the former IGP.
Adv. Rodrigues today told the DGP that documents obtained under the Right to Information Act shockingly reveals that the DGP has failed to respond to eight reminders sent by the Home Department on the former IGP son’s accident case.
Adv. Rodrigues has called upon the DGP that in public interest the expenditure of Rs 4, 33, 200 incurred on the repair of the vehicle be immediately recovered from former IGP Mr. K.D.Singh.
Adv. Rodrigues has also demanded that the Vasco police be directed to charge sheet Mr. Siddharth Singh in accordance with law.
Adv. Rodrigues has also sought action against officers responsible for not yet recovering the amount of Rs 4, 33, 200 from former IGP Mr. K.D Singh and for also not charge sheeting his son Mr. Siddharth Singh for the alleged offences in accordance with law.

Going By the dates 04th Dec 2009 seems to be ages. Does the law require such a long time to catch up with a "CULPRIT" who was caught red handed driving his fathers car recklessly from a night party which he is not entitled to? Or is it that the set of rules differ for certain level of people in a society? Its a disgrace to the entire system for dragging this issue this long. Infact his son including the IGP should be sentenced, a Public apology taken from them and the entire amount to fix the car either taken directly or deducted from his salary immediately. Will this happen ? Its anyones guess.
