AT WHOSE EXPENSE DOES CONGRESS CELEBRATES CHURCHILL’S BIRTHDAY

MARGAO: PWD Minister Churchill Alemao’s 62nd birthday celebrations on Monday came in handy for party leaders to blow the poll bugle with Chief Minister Digambar Kamat asserting that the Congress would easily cruise through in the coming polls by wining 25-30 seats
If party leaders spoke about party victory in the coming polls at Davorlim-Navelim earlier in the morning, the mood amongst the Congress leaders at Alemao’s birthday celebrations at the Blasco Executive was no different.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister echoed the sentiments expressed by Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao that the Congress would retain power by wining 25-30 seats on its own. “The good work done by the departments of PWD and RDA under the leadership of Churchill Alemao will keep the Congress in good stead in the coming Assembly polls. There’s no doubt that the Congress would retain power by wining 25-30 seats”, Kamat asserted.
In his address, Home Minister Ravi Naik said the contributions made by Churchill during the movement to make Konkani the official language cannot be forgotten. He said Churchill Brothers team sponsored by the Alemao family has brought name and fame for Goa in the sporting arena.
Without taking names, the Home Minister took a dig at those who targeted the PWD Minister on his educational qualifications. “These people question the educational qualifications of the PWD Minister, without realizing that formal education alone does not make a person a complete human being. Churchill’s heart longs for the poor and the downtrodden”, he added.
GPCC president Subhash Shirodkar said that Churchill is not just a politician, but a true lover of the common man. “Churchill is always behind the aam admi, whether in power or not”, Shirodkar said.
In his reply, Alemao said the Congress should not have any problem in wining 25-30 seats in the coming Assembly polls if the government accepts the demands of the parents for grants to English medium primary schools.  The function was attended by Alemao’s Ministerial colleagues and MLAs, besides people from Navelim constituency and adjoining constituencies.

Charch-ill  is far-sighted. He wants to celebrate the three kings feast in Navelim. Each King will come from one bridge. Tough competiton for cansaulim and chandor.
