PANJIM: The deputy chairman of the state planning board Wilfred de Souza on Wednesday demanded the resignation of the state government because of the deteriorating law and order in Goa vis a vis the continuing police-drug mafia nexus, the continuing thefts in temples and churches and the custodial death of Cipriano.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of another press conference, de Souza expressed distress with the government and the chief minister Digambar Kamat in particular, for refusing to put the completed taluka regional plans 2021 before the gram sabhas as earlier demanded by him. He said the chief minister has dismissed his demand, saying that there is no provision in the law to put the plans before the gram sabhas.
De Souza challenged this argument saying the government order constituting the state level committee and the task force for the regional plan 2021 said that these were being set up to ensure public participation. "The taluka plans now have eco-tourism zones. I asked the town and country planning department under the Right to Information Act who had suggested the inclusion of these eco-tourism zones and the answer says no one. Is this public participation?" de Souza asked.
The former chief minister said Rajiv Gandhi had brought in the 73rd and 74th amendments to the Constitution to empower the people of India. "He did not say it is not in the Act. He amended the Constitution to empower the people. There are many objections to the completed regional plans of Pernem and Canacona. After all, the plan is for the good of the people, not for the government." de Souza said.
He blamed the government for "many wrong things" that are happening in the state. "It is high time this government resigned and a new government took over," de Souza said.
When asked if he would resign as deputy chairman of the state planning board in protest, de Souza said "I may" because "I am also fed up like the people of Goa." (TNN)

Willy De Sousa You are right that the Government should resign, Goa has turned into a lawless state by the corrupt criminal politicians. Goa is run by a bunch of uneducated ministers who should be looking after cattle and not Govern the state of Goa.
