MARGAO: Defending the Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik, the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat said that Mr Naik has been successful in maintaining law and order in the state and criticized those who had been making allegations against him. Mr Kamat was speaking at the convention of the Congress party workers at Margao, on Sunday. The Congress virtually rang the election bugle to herald the extended election campaign at the meeting.
Praising the government and its Chief Minister and criticizing its detractors and rubbishing allegations over law and order and the drugs issue, various Congress leaders gave clear indications that the party was gearing up to fight the elections under the present Chief Minister.
Another indicator at the meet was the beginning of an alliance between the Home Minister and the PWD Minister. Also the concerted attack on the National Congress Party’s Mr Francisco Xavier Pacheco alias Mickky was a pointer to, where the South Congress leaders perceive their danger lies.
The Chief Minister warned the gathered Congress workers that in the run up to the elections they would be hearing a lot of allegations against various leaders, but asked them to ignore it. Mr Kamat also asked the ‘bahujan samaj’ to support the embattled Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik, citing his work for the community.
He also announced that the Centre has sanctioned 50 PCR vans to modernise the police.
The meeting was attended by all Congress heavyweights including the PWD Minister, Mr Churchill Alemao, the Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik, the Urban Development Minister, Mr Joaquim Alemao, the Panchayat Minister, Mr Manohar ‘Babu’ Azgaokar, the MMC chairperson, Ms Susheela Naik, the Mahila Congress chief, Ms Monica Dias, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary, Mr Vijay Sardessai, councillors and workers and was almost like an election rally, with the Chief Minister being praised to high heaven for his governance and all opposition against him and his team being termed as motivated.
Stating that it is not possible for anybody to give too many tall stories without being found out, Mr Kamat argued that people wanted their works to be done. He tore into the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party for its allegations against the government on various issues.
It may be recalled that the government has been under fire from the opposition as well as various civic groups on the law and order situation in the state – especially the drug scene in the state, and the temples desecration and the latest being the alleged custodial torture and subsequent death of an assault accused.
The PWD Minister told the Congress workers that the government under the present Chief Minister has done a lot for the common man and reminisced about the time how it was him that had tried to convince Mr Kamat to join the Congress many years back and this had led to the Congress getting a good Chief Minister.
"This Chief Minister is a good one. He does work and also allows his ministers a free hand," Mr Alemao said, expressing confidence that "this time the Congress would get 28 seats. Anything above that is a bonus."
Tongue in cheek he also said that an opposition was needed. He, however, gave a veiled warning at the fag end of his speech saying that Churchill "does not like to get hurt. And if I get hurt I get upset."
An important part of his speech was his defense of the embattled Home Minister, with Mr Naik, too following up on Mr Alemao’s speech and tearing into Mr Pacheco, stating that the person who calls Goa the rape capital of India "has so many cases against him."
"If a minister, who is supposed to be one who upholds the law and order, raises his hand against a law enforcer, then what is left," he said.
Expressing his surprise that such a person can pass judgement against him, he defended himself against allegations of abetment on the drug issue, saying that on November 10 he had asked for the report on the drug case and said that the case should go to the CBI.
"These people are upset because their ‘hafta’ has been stopped. Now a lot of drugs are being seized. When did this ever happen before?," he asked and criticised the journalists, asking them why they do not talk about the time when drugs were not being seized. He also asked them to write when they have evidence and just not to make allegations in the air.
Pointing out also to the MGP’s Dhavalikars he said that ‘neighbours’ are creating problems for them and trying to create rifts among them. He further said that it would be better if the Congress got a majority on its own. The Panchayat Minister, Mr Manohar Azgaokar, who spoke earlier, also expressed confidence that the Congress is ready for the elections and pointed out that this government under the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat has brought in an international airport, sports city and made Margao the number one city in the state.
Mr Azgaokar also praised the Chief Minister for being concerned about the common people and said that he is one of the most accessible chief ministers ever. The GPCC chief, Mr Subash Shirodkar too ended by saying that that the Congress has given the country and the state, the NREGA scheme, the right to education, and the right to food. "The Congress has taken the country and the state to great heights and today we are proud to say I am Indian," he told the gathering.

The Chief Minister of Goa Mr Digobor Cowmuth, will naturally support Pilot Ravi Naik as the Pilot gives him his share from the sale of the drugs from the police department (confiscated) sold by his son in colloboration with Chandkrakant Salgaonkar. If he does not support the Pilot (motorcycle) he will not get a fat share of the bounty.
CM of Goa is a shameless fellow. The idiot is trying to say that the Pilot Naik took a bold step, Why was this bold step not taken when it was demanded by the whole public of Goa? This buffoon Cowmuth is really a Kutreachem mut. To solve all this problem somebody must do away with the buffalo called Digambar Kamat alias Dig-gobor Cowmuth. Cowmuth is the biggest lier in the whole world
Its such a blind statement by Digamber Kamat that Ravi Naik has maintained law and order. Where is law & order in Goa under The home Ministry ? Its all gone to Dogs. There is nothing but Chaos every where. Drugs, crime, rapes, Police atrocities are just at its height. Yet Digamber Kamat calls the situation under control. May be someone needs to explain to him what control really means.
The only Justifiable reason that can be seen for this statement is that he too is a share holder in all these criminal acts that are taking place and the Drug Kingpin in the state gives Kamat a chunk of the ill gotten money. I hope the people of Goa will use their God given brains and Shun all these wicked , dirty politicians for good.
Cowmuth Kamat shameless, harebrained idiot5 who thinks goans will take whatever shit he blabbers. Its a disgrace he became a chief minister. He mustbe getting a share of the pilot ravi naiks drug sales. He is too blind and deaf to listen to the demands of goans. What more can be expect from this ghantti who was also involved in the prostitution racket run by his cousin or relative, as in the case of ex police inspector Mr. Thorat. Cowmuth should be kicked out in next elections.
The name of Goa has been tarnished by Drugs, rapes, murders, criminal activates by corrupt politicians and finally those that are supposed to protect us too have turned criminals against its citizens.
Few days back Ravi Naik stated that there are no drugs racket, but now when the video's are show then he changed that the other MLA's are involved in drugs. So, what a change in the statement? Well Ravi do not talk shit and Hariprasad is eating shit of Ravi
Digamber Kamat, thinks by gathering his dumb arse Ministers, and making bland statements, about allegations, he will be able to go scot-free.
There is no doubt, that the impact of allegations that he has read on Niz-Goenkar and elsewhere, is having an impact on him.
The guilt he feels is making him feel nervous and on edge.
He is now using an old Political tactic to cover up his sins.Theives are well known to cover up their tracks. But strangely they always get caught. He is trying to run...but he will not be able to hide for too long.
The criminal fingerprints of all of Kamats Ministers, in scams, loot, rape, plunder in Goa,corruption and other nefarious activities are everywhere to be seen.
Mr Kamat can make these simplistic statements,But Goans are much wiser.
A lot of the allegations that Goans and NGO`s have been making are now bearing fruit. The drug nexus, the land scams, the mining scams, environmental scams, ghetto culture etc
Nearly all of his Ministers and Mla`s have Court cases pending. Why is this happening if they are in his stupid world, innocent?
dont take Goans for fools Mr Kamat.Your time will come and you will pay a price, along with you buddy Ravi.
How come the Drug Nexus FILE,to be provided to the CBI which you approved was lying at the Secretariat for 51 days and marked URGENT and left unattended. Can`t you officers read the word "URGENT".
Are matters of STATE not so important.
Sack the officers that slept over this URGENT FILE.ASAP
The Public have been demanding the CBI enquiry nearly every day.How come your officers were not aware.
Here is an allegation from me....your officers were advised to delay this file, so that you and you mobsters could clear out some damning evidence against your theiving buddy Ravi Naik,His family, you personally and the coterie of you other Ministers.
Lets us know which Ministers, that you and Ravi allege, were not receiving HAFTAS.
Playing with Goas future is not a MATKA game or gamble.
Watch Out the Crumbeaters/Cowards attended the donkeys meeting. They have sold their idiologies/moral to the corrupt force and very soon they will even sell their wifes, daughters to 40 thiefs for sake of short term gains and lastly they will denied like Judas the Iscariot that they were followers of certain Jesus/Ram/Allah for just sake of money.
What a rubbish statement that dick Cowmut is making against the present state of affairs in Goa that he has brought to this height. I just could not stop laughing at those blunt and tactless statements. This is pure hypocrisy. There is no development being carried out at any given stage but on the contrary he has spoilt the whole topography of Goa along with his so-called heavyweight corrupt and gunda 39 chors. Their motto is only loot maro and collect as much ill gotten wealth as you can. I wonder how much money he must have showered to all the other heavyweight to speak on the behalf of the Congress government to fabricate all the baseless praises. The faulty perceptions he is giving to the Goans people is just cowardice and uncalled for.
You all must have noticed the strong feeling of displeasure and belligerence aroused by Chorchill that he "does not like to get hurt. And if I get hurt I get upset.". Now they are really feeling the pinch from the comments made on NG.
These 2 politicians are bloody liars. They believe their own lies, and some of their followers trust them. Tell me dear goan brothers and sisters, how long will you pretend all is well and continue to support them? theres not much time left for goa, its being raped, plundered and drugged by these 2 bas***ds. curse them both. Hear the call of niz goenkar and show these 40 profesional chors the door, the sooner the better, so we can salvage atleast whats left.
It's shocking how innocent Goans will be harassed, tortured, tormented and put to death but the Gudlars, Bansals and the rest ar egiven a clean chit.
"No there are no drugs in Goa - I said so!" says Goa's CM, Home Minister and the rest of the Goa Government. "Leave the Government and the police alone to continue with the good work we are doing in looting and destroying Goa".
The Home Minister is holding the 'balls' of the CM and squeezing them if he speaks up, either that, or the CM has 'no' balls. Someone needs to pull his pants down to see if he has any!
