PANJIM: A group of social activists on Friday lodged a police complaint against Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, architect Charles Correa, and others accusing them of cheating and criminal misconduct for introducing eco-tourism hubs or zones in the development plan.
The 'Village Groups of Goa' filed the complaint against state level committee (SLC) headed by Kamat, which notified 'Regional Plan 2021' recently. Correa is a member of SLC.
The plan creates eco-tourism zones, which the activists find objectionable. "The draft regional plan framed by the government Task Force never spoke about these eco-tourism hubs. Suddenly, the SLC has included it in the notification," Yatish Naik, legal adviser to Pilerne Citizens Forum, told reporters here.
The complaint also names town and country planning department secretary T M Balakrishnan, Industries director Sanjit Rodrigues, Director of Municipal Administration Daulat Hawaldar, Chief town planner Morad Ahmad, Senior town planner S T Putturaju, Director of Panchayat Menino D'Souza and task force members - Rahul Deshpande, Dean D'Cruz and Bryan Soares.
Naik said that the documents obtained under Right to Information Act make it clear that these zones were neither recommended by panchayats nor by the Task Force. "Even the Task Force did not speak about these zones," he said, adding that they were included to help the builders.
"These zones were created at the places where the lands have been already purchased by big companies," Naik said. This amounts to cheating and criminal misconduct, the complaint said.
Panjim police said the complaint would be forwarded to senior officers for further action – PTI

Thank you Activists! You all are the true Freedom Fighters of Goa! We have silent and quiet traitors in Goa....we need to vigilant! Evil is present in Goa, and we need to fight it! For a man who talks about 'not selling your land', what the hell is he doing giving it away? Is this man in is right mind? The people spoke and told you what they wanted and you quietly try to fool them??? Other states have said they don’t want the ‘tourism model’ that is in Goa, as they see how destructive it is, and we are going to add to our problems?? Tourism has brought the drugs, prostitution, rapes, murders, land sharks, Russian mafia, Casino’s etc. that corrupt our youth and will lead to the demise of our culture. When are we going to have a leader that looks out for us, our people and OUR Goa? When?
