TRAFFICKED GIRLS UNDERGO OSSIFICATION TEST

PANJIM: Ossification test on the four girls from Mumbai, who were rescued by police from three alleged traffickers, is being conducted at the Goa Medical College, informed police sources.   Tiswadi sub-divisional magistrate, Mr Shabaji Shetye had given his nod to the police to carry out the age verification test on Tuesday.
Earlier, the girls had refused to undergo the test at the Goa Medical College due to which the police felt that they could be minors. Thereafter, the police had sought order from Tiswadi sub-divisional magistrate, Mr Shabaji Shetye to carry out the age verification test. The girls were rescued by the Panaji town police after getting a tip-off from a reliable source that they were being brought from Maharashtra to carry out flesh trade. After being rescued the girls were sent to protective home in Merces. If the girls are proved to be minors then the three accused will be charged under the Goa Children’s Act.
Meanwhile, police informed that they are still in search of the kingpin called Javed adding all were living on the earnings from flesh trade. (NT)
