HOW THE CHURCH SOLD THE PROPERTY OF SOUTO MAIOR AND DESTROYED HIS WILL by Bebdo

Let me tell the Goans the bit that I know about the Souto Maior property extending from Mira-mar to Caranzalem and Taleigao. After reading it please give your views whether we should trust the procuradors of the Church.
You will also come to know how the church in connivance with the builders have destroyed the will and legacy of Souto Maior. The main chors who benefited from the Souto Maior property, besides the corrupt priests are as follows.

  1. Peter of Models

  2. Wilson and Mauvin Godinho

  3. The Monster Rat

  4. The Black Ghantti Mathias who says he is a Goan

  5. Kamat builders and many others
Now let us dwell into the history of Souto Maoir.
Who was Souto Maior?
Reverend Canon Francisco da Cunha Souto Maior was a philanthropist who always cared for the people of Caranzalem and Taleigao. He died in 1736 and had a huge property in Caranzalem. If you guys pass through Caranzalem on the way to Dona Paula you will still see an ancient house with a chapel there which belonged to Souto Maior. In his will made in 1736, he bequeathed all his property to the benefit of the villagers of Caranzalem. As he was a priest the administrator of the will was the Archbishop Patriach. In his will he had made it very clear that his property should never be sold. He had clearly stated in the will as follows: “… and I ask the ecelesiastical justice to have it fully executed and to observe it as laid down in it”.  Moreover, he has also clearly laid down how the income from his property which had a vast plantation of coconut trees and other fruit bearing trees be distributed.
In the will it is clearly said that “as long as the sun and the world exist, the farm with all its annexs I entail on the chapel perpetually, forbidding its sale in any manner whatsoever.”
He had also stated in his will that “daily masses were to be offered at the chapel built by him where the mortal remains would lie”. As he was the patron of the villagers, he had specified how the revenue generated from his property be distributed among the people of the village. He stated: “The orphans were to be given financial assistance and also for the marriage of poor woman and oles and kapod was to be distributed to the poor women.”
But what did the administrator of the will of Souto Maoir did? In his case the administrator was the Archbishop Patriach Raul Gonsalves. This administrator sold his property to 15 builders. And these builders have now constructed huge housing colonies there. All those complexes that you’ll see from Mira-Mar to Caranzalem are mostly build in the property of Souto Maior which the Church sold to the builders for a pittance and possible kick-backs.
This may only be the tip of the ice-berg of how the corrupt church officials and priests are selling church property to builders. No wonder, one sees priests sharing the dais with politicians in Goa. Recently, even Chorchill brought two priests to officially inaugurate the office of his Leita Big Lips in Benaulim.
Such corrupt priests are the Judases of Goa. They should hang themselves in shame for selling the property of the church for sixty pieces of silver. And if they are so thick-skinned as not to hang themselves, then we should place a placard around their neck to proclaim to all the world that these are the Judas of Goa.
If my information is not correct, then I am happy to receive any updates on this.

Many decades have gone bye, our genuine Goan brothers and sisters have made legal bindings to desposed of their wealth and properties to these faithful instituitions upon their demise but, not in the present times, not anymore. The sad faithfuls are dead and gone and are being substituted by, what we call "advocates of the devil" in every community place of worship.

It troubles me to state that all ye people reading me here, are NOT in your sane minds because, these priests have the same mentality of every other of our corrupt electives. They have the blessing of these Godfather electives who are all out to make a mockery of every instituitions under their control. The monies generated by these institutions have been skillfully transferred to the accounts of their families, friends and relatives by all means. These are the same individuals who are associated hand in gloves with the thieves to desecrate and rob what is left of the past.

It is essential for the people investigation the issues to re-check the identifications of these Fathers Victor Rodrigues & Francis Caldeira as they could be the (popularly known) Ghantis coming from the East, North or South to mock or jeer the Goan unity. We live in the world's biggest democracy and we are fortunate to be bestowed with all that democracy has to offer us ie, plunder not Goa but the Goans Will and the Unity.

We Catholics have been brought up not to offend our elders and the guardians of our religion. Recent developments in Goa and around the world by our religious leader de we keep quiet and hide in our shells?
In Reference to Bebdos article: If this is not true I would like to see the Archbishops office come out with a statement denying the facts. We keep hammering the politicians for destructing Goan soil and the influx of migrants into the state. Are the Guardian of our religion any better? Have they ever thought of the implications of selling land to the builders who built colonies? Church properties were donated with a purpose to either better the lives of the poor or for masses said after the donors and families deaths. Reverend Canon Francisco da Cunha Souto Maio as I understand was always there for the needy. I do not doubt bebdo's article , as there are similar cases of land selling else ware in Goa aided by corrupt politicians

Can we have an investigative reporter on this story.??...it is worth looking into. We need to learn what happened here, so that this story does not repeat itself. We, the people, need to be planning ahead to prevent this happening again and again. I would also like to know who these priests are, as I don't mind asking them to explain how they did it. I am not being disrespectful, but I need to understand what happened here. Once I have the facts, I don't mind asking on everyone's behalf ‘in church’ if need be, for them to explain the above. I have tried to lead an honest life, as that was instilled in me by the church and my late mother, a devote catholic. I think I have capitol to use, for all the times she asked me to volunteer for the church. Please, if there are journalists at the Times of India or some other outlet, please ask them to look into this story. I think it will be great for their career, as this story will create a lot of attention. It is very sad that the priests final act of charity was not kept. He should be a saint canonized by the same Church that sold the land. Thanks Bebdo. Thanks Menino.

If this is true then Goans should demand a CBI Probe on this issue. The Guilty have to punish and the property have to restore back to its original.

@ Bebdo: Well done if this is true the priest must pay for their sins here in the world and not after dying. They are human beings and not god, they are preachers and not saints. the church need to answer this and we catholic community should stop them. We require a change and we have to do that. I can't see more about this as the corruption has run to the highest level from toe to Head. We have to wake up from the slumber before Goa dies and our religion is buried... this is ahame for us

Goans by nature are a generous breed adopted from the Portuguese, so was Reverend Canon Francisco da Cunha Souto Maior. Generations latter we have inherited corrupt Governments and to add some leaders of our faith. We have often turned the other cheek, but for how long can we do that. It is time the church recognises the need is now on this earth and in GOA. disposing of church land to non Goans through corrupt officials and third parties is unacceptable. There should be a rethink for the sake of the Goan youth. These properties were given to the church so that the poor and needy could be taken off and masses offered for the donors. We were taught by our parents never to question our religious leaders. In this day and age we all understand right from wrong and have kept quiet for a long time. Enough is Enough.

@ Trevor, no point asking Times of India to investigate. The brother-in-law of Wilson Godinho, Alexandre Barbosa, is working as a journalist there. How can you expect spineless Goan journalists to write about corruption and other scandals in Goa? They have no sauce in their balls. The only thing that they know is to gossip about various politicians either at Peter's in St. Inez or at a cafe near Azad Maidan. What journalists? They are worse than whores.
By the way, a small bird has told me that Caitan Martin from Martin's Beach Corner in Caranzalem had some time ago gone to the Bishop's House and had staged a protest there against the sale of Souto Maoir property. Another person has told me that Dona Paula, the girl who committed suicide at the Dona Paula jetty, was from the family of Souto Maoir. If that is true, then it is all the more reason why Goans should preserve the legacy and history of that place.

Marcel... This is a real shame! They will not pay for their sins in this world. In this world we have to go for confession and confess our sins to them and they will bless us and forgive us in the name of God. Who are they going to confess to? Some of them will even break our politicians' records. Just mark my words. I personally knew a few in Goa but they are no more and I wonder where they are now or to who they are confessing to. God Bless their souls.

Niz Goenkarano
This article on the sale of Souto Maior property by the church has generated a lot of discussion among our circle. Now, some of them has sent me files and a copy of a newsitem which contains all the fact, but unfortunately was never published in Goa. If I have the time, I will post more facts on this case tonight, if not maybe tomorrow.
The church stabbed the poor Christian families from Caranzalem in their back and sold the prime land to many builders. As per this record, one of them is Alfran whose Director is Govekar.
WAIT FOR THE NEXT FOLLOW UP. A WELL-RESEARCHED ARTICLE SUPPORTED BY DOCUMENTS.

Dear Bebdo,

You've spoken the truth and exposed this sordid affair.

You've named the 5 benefactors of this evil scheme and exposed them for destroying the Souto Maior properties extending from Miramar to Caranzalem and Taleigao some of the most beautiful villages of Goa.

What a beautiful piece of Goa that was left for posterity by Reverend Canon Francisco da Cunha Souto Maior a philanthropist who always cared for the people of Caranzalem and Taleigao converted by these rogues that you've named and exposed.

Peter of Models - yes Models Exotica, Models Legacy and all the other concrete constructions.

Wilson and Mauvin Godinho - From Mangor Vasco they then migrated to the greener pastures in Panjim. Using Mauvin Chor Godinho's Political strength they have now continued their corrupt ways to destroy Goa. Through their family connections whether it's Aggie Alcaoas (Queeny Realty Estates) they even destroy the villages of Salcette Cansaulim, Sancoale, Chicalim, and want to make them concrete jungles like Taleigao
and Caranzalem.

The Monster Rat - yes another illegitmiate bastard adopted by the Monserrate family who destroyed the good name of the Monserrates!

The Black Ghantti Mathias who says he is a Goan - yes this Kannadiga bastard 'Joe Mathias" was adopted by the good nuns as an orphan. After starting his construction in Vasco he then moved to Panjim.

Kamat builders and many others - Their projects in Caranzalem and the other neighbourhoods destroyed our idyllic Goan villages adjoining Pamjim forever!

What a shame!
