PANJIM: An under-trial taken to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, for a check-up, escaped by pushing aside the escort police and jumping onto a waiting motorbike on Wednesday morning.
Agacaim police, however, registered an offence only on Thursday afternoon. Police said Ralf Fernandes, 23, who was arrested by the Colva police in a theft case, was lodged at Sada jail. On Wednesday morning he complained of uneasiness and was taken to GMC in a prison vehicle along with a few other prisoners who were to be produced before a court in the capital city.
After the check-up, the escort police who accompanied the accused were waiting at the gate for the escort vehicle to return.
This was at about 11.30am, when a person came on a black motorcycle without a number plate and parked it near the gate.
Seeing the bike, Fernandes pushed the escort police, ran and sat as pillion rider on the bike. The duo headed towards the university. A futile search later, police registered the case on Thursday at 1.15pm. (TNN)

Big mistake, didn't the undertrial knew that he would have been acquitted and left free after sometime? He complicated the case. All criminals including murderers in Goa are set free after sometime due to the collapse in the case lacking evidence.
When will the police ever learn? Under the Goan Human rights criminals are to be handcuffed. The human rights are not the victims therefore the government must reverse the laws, and hand cuff prisoners when being escorted.
