SISTER ARRESTED FOR EVADING TRIAL IN MINOR BROTHER ASSAULT CASE

PANJIM: The childern's court on Friday sent Milena Fernandes, who evaded prosecution on charges of assaulting her minor brother, to three days judicial custody after she was arrested by police.
Police on Friday produced her before the court after tracing her. She was taken into custody by police following a warrant issued against her by the court for not appearing during the trial.
The court has directed police to produce her again in the court on January 10.
Police had filed a chargesheet against Fernandes and her husband for injuring her 15-year-old younger brother in her house at Corjuvem. According to police, Fernandes had taken her brother to her house after taking permission from her parents. However, she allegedly ill treated her sibling.
Police charged her for child abuse and for causing injuries to her brother. The victim's father had lodged a complaint with the police after he read a report in a newspaper about the torture his son had suffered.
