POLICEMAN ASSAULTED INSIDE PONDA POLICE STATION

PONDA: The Ponda police on Sunday arrested Sarfaraj Mulla Adul Razak Muzaver, a resident of Curti-Ponda, for allegedly assaulting a police sub-inspector, while the latter was discharging his lawful duty, at the police station.
According to the police, Muzaver was brought to the police station, following a complaint, filed by Mr Afzal Abas Mulla and Mr Sayad Tanvir. The two stated in the complaint that Sarfaraj, in a fight, had caused injuries to them by biting them. The fight allegedly took place at Curti and all three were involved.
The police sub-inspector, Mr Lakxi Amonkar, who was assaulted by Muzaver said, “I received a phone call informing that three persons were involved in a fight at Curti. Together with two constables, I immediately rushed at the site and tried to pacify the three who were still fighting. When I realised that the three were in no mood to listen to me and break up the fight, I asked Muzaver and the complainants to sit in the police jeep, so that I could take them to the police station and sort out the issue. The three sat in the jeep, however, while they were being transported to the police station, they kept the fight going, albeit verbally.
I warned them several times to stop arguing and the verbal abuse in the police vehicle. Once at the police station, I went about trying to complete the formalities. It was at this time that Muzaver pushed me and slapped me on the neck. He also abused me verbally, cursing and using unparliamentarily language.”
Interestingly, this is the first time that such an incident has taken place where a police personnel has been assaulted in the police station in Ponda.
Police immediately arrested Muzaver, and booked him in two different cases, both cognizable, under section 323, 332, 504, and 324, 451, 504, 506 (II).
Police further informed that the alleged accused moved a bail application immediately after arrest, in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Ponda, and the court has reportedly asked for the police say in the matter, late in the evening.
The news however drew a large crowd at the police station. Police informed that while a section of the crowd had just come to see and inquire what was happening, others had come to urge the police to take stringent action against the culprit who had assaulted an officer of the law, while dischar-ging duty at the police station. The police also informed that others had come to urge the police not to book Muzaver and to reach an amiable compromise.(NT)

What lawful duty was he discharging? You can discharge in the toilet. You can discharge in the urinal. In Goa, you can even discharge by the road side and in the fields. everything is lawful and the law is full of flaw. What happened to you my beloved Goa, the Goa that I knew?????
