VERNA POLICE FAIL TO MAKE A BREAK THROUGH IN THE MURDER OF IVONE PAES

VERNA: Verna police have failed to make any headway into the murder probe of Ivone Paes, 72 hours after the incident. Police are yet to make a breakthrough in the case as the evidence is not so strong to lead to some trail.
Though the police say that they expect positive results soon, investigators have not been able to find any strong evidence. Police have also not been able to find the weapon used to attack the elderly woman.  "The investigation is on and we are interrogating the suspects," said Verna police inspector Rajan Nigalye.
He added that Ivone's husband Maximiano Paes, 75, is still under observation at a private hospital at Chicalim. "He has still not regained consciousness, so we are unable to record his statements," Nigalye said.
Police are awaiting a statement from Maximiano, as he was present at the scene of crime and might have seen the criminals who attacked him as well. Police have also obtained finger prints from the scene of the crime, and have sent the samples to Mumbai. "We are awaiting the report," a police official said. - TNN
