HARASSED POLICE CONSTABLE WHO CONSUMED RATOL PASSES AWAY AT GMC - by Atul Naik

PANJIM: The police constable driver, 33 years old Chandru Gawas attached to the Crime Investigation Department, Dona Paula, who had consumed ratol apparently due to work stress, passed away while undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim Tuesday evening, informed police inspector, Mr Ramesh Gaonkar.
Mr Gaonkar stated that the police have registered it as an unnatural death and that he is investigating the matter and added that an inquest panchanama has been conducted. He said the body has been sent for post mortem examination and it would be conducted on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the constable’s family members lodged a complaint with the Panjim town police station against police inspector, Mr Pravinkumar Vast, attached to the crime branch, alleging that he harassed Chandru.
Friend circle of the deceased constable claim that he was harassed by both PI Vast and Chandrakant Salgaoncar. One of Chandru’s friend who called himself Rudresh told this reporter that both the DySP Salgaoncar and PI Vast were the main harassers of their friend and the Chandru had told him about this but he could do nothing fearing police reprisal.
The family members said that they would not claim the body unless justice was done to the deceased by initiating action against the officials responsible for the alleged harassment at work. They alleged that Mr Vast refused to grant leave to Chandru, who was set to get married on July 9.
Chandru had consumed poison while on duty on the night intervening Friday-Saturday. He was found vomitting while on duty and was rushed to a private hospital where he disclosed that he had consumed Ratol to end his life as he was under tension for some time, said sources in the police department. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the GMC.
Chandru’s statement was recorded by Special Judicial Magistrate, Ms Maria Mascarenhas in the presence of a camera and before two panch witnesses and later it was submitted to the court in a sealed envelope. Chandru joined the police force some eight years back.

This is a new trend in Goa. Every single day, a Goan is either forced to death or killed by a politician or the police. RIP to Gaude.

In the police department the lower cadre is really harrased and it looks like the Police Department of Goa is run by so many Hitlers. The lower cadre are used by politicians and higer ups in the police to do their mean jobs. I know where two to three police constables are engaged to work in a Seniors house, harrased and are treated like unwanted garbage. This is because the loot, the blood money from innocents paid by the criminals have turned them blind. Chandrakant Salgaokar and others named in the dying declaration should be immediately arrested and put behind bars. Will it happen? No! How can Chors arrest Chors?

May his soul rest in peace. Is this the liberated vision of Goa? The law enforcers have become the law breakers and the government of Goa  is leaning towards criminals. The current state of affairs is a Mass Suicide waiting to happen unless We goans take our Goa back to as it was before the so called liberation. A true liberation is in order.

Lodging complaint against these crook PS, PI and politicians is useless. One would never get justices. In Goa law is in ministers hand. Instead of lodging complaint aginst these ba**d. stonned them to death when they are off duty. My dear Goan stand up. Only way to get justices either burn these crooks alive or shoot them then the other crooks will get scared of their life. Arseholes BJP, and BBSM instead of fighting for MOI fight for corruptions and justices. These B*** all are hands in gloves either Congress, BJP or MGP or NCP.

A sincere request to the other policemen who are suffering under these Ba**a*ds, please come out and avenge your deceased comrade and bring the perpetrators to justice. If nothing is done now they will become bolder and you will be next. Stop behaving tough with the public because they respect the uniform and that respect is dwindling fast. stop behaving like pussies and fight for your right.

Well said. Instead of fighting over MOI these freaks along with Parrikar should try to solve these issues affecting the masses. Purely shows that they are not interested in our welfare but the welfare of Maharashtra. I bet Gawas was a marathi student and I bet all the Police top brass were educated in English.
