DELEGATION ASSURED BY CM KAMAT TO GET THE OFF THE MACHINERY FROM THE CLOSED MINE

PANJIM : Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat today assured a delegation of social Activists that heavy machinery, stationed at a closed mine at Cavrem, would be removed forthwith and that police would take the ongoing investigations into activist Nilesh Gaokar's case to its logical conclusion.
After giving the delegation a patient hearing, Mr Kamat said the order passed by the Directorate of mines and pollution Control Board will be implemented.
In another Development, Nilesh, who was spearheading the cavrem mine agitation and was assaulted by unknown persons recently at Verna, was discharged from Hospicio hospital margao and was later escorted by police to Cavrem as part of security measure worked out.
On the investigation into the attack on Nilesh, the Chief Minister said the police are seriously investigating the case.
When his attention ws drawn to a claim by the activists, promising to stop all mining in Cavrem and Maina village, Kamat said that the meeting held earlier this week had reviewed the situation, especially, in view of the high court order restricting the timings of ore transportation. – UNI
