MARGAO: Benaulim MLA and former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco on Monday denied charges of threatening and assaulting a junior engineer attached to the electricity department in 2006, before a judicial magistrate first class court at Margao.
During the trial, Pacheco said that a conspiracy was hatched against him by some South Goa politicians to malign his image.
According to the chargesheet filed by the police, Pacheco had allegedly called a junior engineer (JE), Kapil Natekar, to his Betalbatim office and assaulted him on July 16, 2006. The chargesheet also stated that Pacheco threatened the JE with dire consequences. Further arguments in the case will be heard on April 20.
