PANJIM: Goa government, in a communique late Saturday evening, declared the proposed strike by the government employees from March 21 as illegal. The government warned that anyone found not discharging their assigned duties during the strike period, would be treated as absent and the principle of 'no work no pay' will be invoked in all such unauthorized absence.
Pursuant to an earlier strike notice, issued by GGEA on December 2, 2010, Government had issued an order under Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) which is still in force, an official spokesman said. Government had already clarified to GGEA, that government of Goa is amongst the first few states, which agreed to implement 6th Pay Commission and any further upgradation will be tantamount to going beyond provisions of 6th Pay Commission.

Government workers striking to express their disgust at the way the government operates is illegal. So then what is legal? the way the Govt loots the public?the way the Govt covers its own shady deals and crimes?The very own machinery of the Govt accused in drugs and intimidation? Its pathetic to see how the Govt suppresses the voice of the people and yet says its a transparent govt, a Govt open for discussion.Hell with our un democratic Govt, may the people come out and speak their mind !
