VALPOI: Education is a significant aspect of a child’s life and creating conducive learning environment will attract children towards education, said the president of Giant International (Valpoi block), Mr.. Aziz Shah. Mr. Shah further said that there is a need of including more play and learning methods in the syllabi of pre-primary and primary education. He was speaking during a function hosted by the management of Blooming Buds (Little Kinder Garten) based at Nanus.
The president of Phoenix Socio-Cultural Association, Mr. Abdulla Khan, former Massordem block Giant International president, Mr. Laxman Naik, Mr. Ramesh Davjekar and headmistress of Blooming Buds, Ms Parveen Aga were also present on the occasion.
Mr. Shah, speaking further on behalf of Giants International, announced to help the school and asked the management to prepare the list of necessities to carry out the all-round development of students.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abdulla Khan said that to impart creative teaching is very costly and NGOs like Giants International is a hope to such upcoming schools.
He also highlighted the efforts of the school headmistress and urged the parents to make optimum use of her ample experience in the education field.
Headmistress, Ms Parveen Aga, also spoke on the occasion and presented an activity report in brief.
Earlier, students staged various cultural items. Outgoing students were felicitated by presenting flowers, at the hands of dignitaries. Later toys for creative learning were donated by Giants International to the students.

Late Propercia Correia-Afonso de Figueiredo left us many many works - speeches and writings - which are indicative of her love for the child and her concern for children's education. The writings are all in Portuguese (born in 1891, she died in 1944), published as "separata" by the then Instituto Vasco da Gama (now Institute Menezes Braganza), and should be available in the Central Library. Among them are "The Child and the Language", "The Magic of Folklore in the Life of the Goan Child", Games, the School of Life", among many others. She was an honorary member of the Mushtifund Saunstha of Panaji.
