PANJIM: Some unknown persons entered a city school and decamped with cash amounting to Rs 31,650, besides mobile of a student that was confiscated by the school authorities.
The investigating police officer, Mr Vijay Kumar Chodankar, informed that in this regard, the trustee of the People’s Education Trust, Mr Vinay Manguesh Surlakar, lodged a complaint with the Panjim Town police station, stating that the school was closed at around 8 p.m. on Saturday by the security guard.
However, on Sunday morning, when the security guard arrived at around 9.30 a.m. he discovered that all the locks were broken and the doors were ajar. Mr Surlakar informed that cash from the drawer, along with the mobile handset were missing.
The sniffer dog was pressed into service and fingerprints were lifted from the spot of the offence by the fingerprint expert. Further investigation is in progress.
