MURDER AT VERNA OF A JARKHAND NATIVE

VASCO: The body of a 30-year-old man was found in a pool of blood in an isolated area at Old Mardol near the Verna police station early Wednesday morning. The body has been identified as that of one Rupesh Mitra from Jharkhand.
The man was wearing a pant and a shirt and had multiple injuries on his body. During the inquest panchnamma it was found that the man died after being stabbed. However, postmortem reports are yet to be received. The body was identified by a person known to the deceased.
"The accused must have used a weapon like a knife to literally pierce his throat," Verna police said. According to police the man's throat and neck had grievous injuries with other wounds on his chest and other parts of the body.
During the investigation, police found his slippers near the road. "It is clear that he was assaulted on the road and later dragged to a distance of around 75m in the isolated place in Old Mardol," said a source adding that the whole path was stained with blood.
A case has been registered under Section 302 of IPC. PSI Sushant Gawas is conducting further investigations into the case. (TNN)
