VALPOI: Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Mr Pratapsing Rane urged the state government to give class I occupancy to Cumeri cultivators so that they can mortgage their land and practice advance agricultural methods.
Mr Rane was speaking as chief guest on a function organise to distribute fresh Sanads to Cumeri cultivators by department of Settlement and Land Records at Valpoi. Around 60 beneficiaries from Naneli and Hedode Satari received their fresh Sanads. Other dignitaries present on the dais were Revenue Minister, Mr Jose Phillip D’Souza, North Goa collector, Mr Mihir Vardhan, VMC Chairperson, Mr Umesh Gulelkar, Zilla Parishad members, Mr Humlo Gawde and Mr Ashok Gawas, Sarpanch of Nagargao and Thane panchayat, Mr Pallavi Marathe and Mr Prakash Gaonker respectively.
He further said that while practising Cumeri cultivation green forest were largely affected and added that preserving environment and forest is more important. “If these Cumeri cultivators are having right to mortgage their land then they can practice advance technology of agriculture by availing loan from bank” he opined. He also urged the government to appoint retired and experience staff for survey and demarcation of land which will be more helpful in the process.
Revenue Minister, Mr Jose Phillip D’Souza, stated that regularizing the houses built on the Comunidade land by the Goan is a long pending demand and the government will take positive side in this matter. He also brief out the difficulties in surveying the land and thanks people for their support and lauded the efforts of collector and the staff in bringing out result within time. Mr Mihir Vardhan welcomes the guest while Mr Kiran Narvekar hosted the function and later on proposed vote of thanks.
