THE DECAY OF GOA by Adv. Aires Rodrigues, Ribandar

Goa once known as the Paradise of the east has in recent years been in the news for all the wrong reasons. As a laboratory for political experiments, Goa has taken centre stage in circumventing the Anti-defection law. With an alarming rise in crime, the streets are no longer safe particularly after sunset. Murders and rapes are unabated. The drug trade only remains to be legalized.
Goa is half the size of a district in other states yet we have 12 ministers and 40 MLA’s whose upkeep has been eating up the State exchequer. We are host to India’s highest paid Advocate General who has been paid a whopping five crores over the last five years. To top up the lawlessness, this Government appointed as Chairman of the Law Commission a person having three charge sheets against him of cheating a co-operative bank which he headed. If the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh are really serious of waging a war against corruption, Goa would be the ideal launch pad for a crusade against this malaise that has left the Aam Aadmi stranded.

Aries, I totally agree with you.
Goa is overburdened and saturated with people bureaucracy, outdated laws, overpaid, indulgent and extremely corrupt MLA`s and Law officers.
There are too many MLA`s trying to ride the Political Donkey.Perhaps one too many.
With a lame duck and dithering Chief Minister ,Digamber Kamat and a bunch of uneducated Ministers, what can one expect?
I do not know any Country in the world, Large or small that has as its Education Minister an uneducated one,who breeds Rapists.
What can one expect from Goa , which is currently governed by uneducated buffaloes.

Unless people wake up and chase the 40 Alibaba's out of the den, nothing will change. The mindset of the people of Goa should change. Gandhi in pockets of the chamchas and crumb eaters, the common man struggling on the road side to fill his stomach by toiling the land with his sweat.
