CIVIL RIGHT ACTIVISTS ACCUSED RAVI NAIK OF INTERFERING IN THE POLICE-DRUG NEXUS CASE

PANJIM: Civil right activists today complained that Home Minister Ravi Naik was using police force to threaten them to withdraw or delete a crucial name in the criminal complaint in the police-drug nexus case.   In an application before the Narcotics and Drugs Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Court, Kashinath Shetye and 12 others alleged that Police Inspector Sudesh Naik threatened them on directions of the home minister, Crime Branch Superintendent of Police Mangaldas Desai and DySP Shamba Sawant.
“On or about January 12, 2010, PI Sudesh Naik visited the residences of South Goa applicants and asked them to withdraw the complaint or atleast delete the name of “Roy”…Sudesh Naik claimed to be acting on the instructions of the Home Minister (Government of Goa), SP Mangaldas Desai and DySP Shamba Sawant,” reads the application.
The complaint which was filed by 13 citizens last month, includes government officials, teachers as well college lecturers describes Roy (named without the surname), had asked the police to probe the police- drug mafia nexus which included “One Mr Roy, who has a substantial presence in the drug industry as a drug lord”.
The applicants alleged that they are placed under police surveillance and frequent threatened if they do not comply with the instructions. But if they obey the terms, PI Naik has assured ‘they would be rewarded handsomely for their compliance.’
Similar instructions were conveyed to other applicants of North Goa as well.
They have requested the Court to direct the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into all persons named in their complaint letter including former Anti Narcotics Cell Superintendent of Police Veenu Bansal and “Roy”.
The matter is fixed for hearing on January 31.
The fresh allegation comes a day after SIT registered a case against police sub-inspector Sunil Gudlar and others for their alleged drug links. DySP Sawant incidentally probed into the spy-cam video showing Gudlar selling drugs to two foreign women – Ayala Driham and Zarina, both kin of jailed drug lord David Driham alias Dudu.

The word shame & Disgrace should be written off from the Politicians Vocabulary. They should be banned from using these words. They will never learn the meaning of it.

Gandhi once said, if you loose wealth you loose nothing, if you loose health you loose something, if you loose respect you loose everything.

Gandhi was wrong, because if you loose respect you loose nothing, (ask the politicians), you loose wealth you loose something, you loose your health you loose everything.

Our Politicians are corrupt due to the blessing of Gandhi.

After IndependĂȘnce of Goa, we should give the Statue of Gandhi back to India where it belongs, if we keep it we will be corrupt even after Independence.

Dear Pedro, in the perspective of our Goan politicians what Ghandi said is wrong, but I think for them if you lose respect you lose noting, if you lose health you lose something, if you lose wealth you lose everything. Most of them politicians in Goa look so sick to the bones, for instance Ravinski Naikoscov, he looks perpetually sick as if he has one foot up and one foot in the grave and yet he continues filling his pockets with illegal wealth. Mog asundi !
