PEOPLE FEASTED ON MONEY WHICH LED TO THE DEFEAT: GOA BJP

PANJIM: After facing humiliating defeat in Valpoi bypoll, Goa's Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that people feasted on money which led to their defeat.  "People did not just take the money but literally feasted on it in the run up for the poll," said Santosh Haldankar, BJP's candidate, who lost to Congress' Vishwajit Rane in the bypolls that were held on October 18.
A Victorious Vishwajeet
Rushing out of the counting hall, Haldankar, who could get only 3,237 votes as against Rane's 11,642, said that people got carried away to money.  "He spent so much...It was all money power," he said.
Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat ridiculed BJP's claim that Congress wooed voters with money.
"This is an insult. The mandate is clearly favouring development. BJP leaders should realise that they have lost by huge margin and have lost their hold over the constituency," Kamat said.
Rane, Health Minister in state cabinet, said that people voted against BJP "because they have had miserable experience during BJP's regime in the state."
"BJP chief minister Manohar Parrikar did nothing for these people. He left them to fend for themselves. People have seen hope in the form of congress," he said.
Rane, who in past led two rebellions against the chief minister, said, "I am with Kamat as he is the person who has understood the pulse of the state."  BJP's Goa unit president Laxmikant Parsekar said that people voted keeping in mind their personal benefits rather than ideology.
"People of Valpoi constituency are poor. For them, getting a job or earning few bucks is a priority over ideology," he said explaining his party's poor performance in the constituency.  Valpoi was a BJP stronghold before Rane got elected as an Independent candidate here and later joined Congress in June, this year, necessitating by-poll. - PTI

When there are only two parties one has to win. I doubt the all the margin of 8,000 voters had taken any money. As I understand it they just don't like the BJP as it has not ensured Goans of religious harmony.

It was peoples money, it was the blood money that you all crooks tried to make use of for the election. If they have feasted and rested on it - that does not matter. The people of this constituency has rightly voted their candidate.

Looks like the BJP candidate has pocketed all the money which the BJP high command sent to distribute to the people. This same thing was done during the last general election against Vishwajeet. The previous Haldankar, that is Narhari had pocketed all the allowance and never showed anything to the people. That is exactly why we last time lost the election. Now too the same thing. Narhari is a crook in the form of an ant

BJP is the last thing we would want to win. They are communal and we do not need them. Even the normal Goan hindus will not agree with BJP in Power

Well said Joe and Johnads. Johnads the money belongs to the people and let them feast on their own money. Joe yes we do not want BJP the communal party in power and they have destroyed to olden relations between the Hindus and other religions in Goa that existed once upon a time. They allowed the RSS, Bajrang dal and VHP to do as they pleased and even supported their communal activities and that includes Parrikar too who pretends to be a saint. He directly was involved in asking the RSS and BD to do away with other religions people of Goa

Shyam I complement you on what you just said. I am from Valpoi and there was and is still there one bhat in Valpoi named Shirish Gadgil who studied in Our Lady of Lourdes High school and was out to vanish the Catholics and Muslims from Valpoi. This man whose wife is working in Sales tax office Saritha Marathe (SHE IS GOOD), is a big RSS cum BJP criminal and communal ideologist. If anyone wants they can check this out in Valpoi.

This shirish gadgil used to boast that Parrikar supported him fully and as such he could do what he wants with other religions.

Guys the people have given the mandate, cause there is only BJP & Congress two national party. In Future they will have opposition from a regional party and that is "Niz-Goenkar Party" then I will see who will win and that time I will give my opinion, we want a regional party not congress or BJP!

Whose money did they distribute? Was it inherited from their father of forefathers? They loot the money from the people and distribute to the people as if it is their hard earned money. BJP deserved to lose and neither congress deserved to win, but with only two parties competing there was no choice. Let us wait for the next elections when Niz Goenkar party emerges. That will be the real contest. Viva Niz Goenkar!!!

At People feasted on money, but BJP candidate Santosh and his Uncle Narhari feasted on the BJP money. Why are they crying now? Time to wipe out BJP, RSS, Bajrang Dal, VHP and have only secular parties in Goa and India
