PANJIM: RDA Minister, Mr Churchill Alemao extended benefits of various schemes to people of Khola on Sunday in the presence of MLA and chairman of IDC, Mr Chandrakant Kavlekar at Khola in Canacona.
Mr Alemao distributed gas connections and cheques under Grameen Urja scheme to the beneficiaries and also commenced the work of hot-mixing of internal roads at a cost of ` 4.75 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, RDA Minister said that he has been successful in bringing effectiveness in the functioning of RDA and further mentioned that various development works have been taken up under RDA. So far 30,000 gas connections have been distributed to the beneficiaries, he added.
The Minister reviewed various rural development programmes and urged locals to avail the benefits of these schemes. Under the NREG programme government provides employment to unskilled persons, he said. The Minister listed various schemes meant for BPL families and said that people from Khola should come forward and take benefits of BPL schemes.
MLA, Mr Chandrakant Kavlekar said that he will endeavour for the all-round development of Khola village and sought cooperation from the people to achieve further developmental projects. ZP member, Mr Krishna Velip also spoke. Sarpanch, Ms Archana Velip welcome while Mr Harischandra Kholakar proposed the vote of thanks. (NT)
