MARGAO: In his deposition before the district and sessions court here during the Margao bomb blast trial, a government doctor said that Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik died due to the injuries suffered by them on account of the explosion.
While referring to the post mortem report, GMC doctor Mandar Kantak said that the duo had suffered grievous injuries below the abdomen that resulted in the death of Patil within four hours of the incident. Naik, however, died after four days.
It may be recalled that the national investigating agency (NIA) had alleged that both the men were carrying explosives to trigger a blast on the eve of Diwali last year in the commercial capital.
Defence lawyer Sanjeev Paunalekar argued that those who died in the explosion were victims of the blast and not the accused.
Meanwhile, special public prosecutor S B Faria told reporters that a charge sheet against another two accused รข€" Prashant Ashtekar and Prashant Zuvekar would be filed shortly after completion of the investigation by the NIA in the case.
It may further be recalled that after the filing of the common charge sheet in the case by NIA in May, Ashtekar, an IT engineer surrendered before the court while Zuvenkar, a native of Sangli was arrested by NIA in Maharastra. Both the men have been in judicial custody for the past few months. - TNN
